Everything You Can Expect When You Sign Up for Pathmatics

Feb 16, 2018 10:00:00 AM

You did it. You’re finally in the club and have access to all the valuable advertising data and insights Pathmatics has to offer.

But, what’s next? What can you expect after you sign up? In this post we highlight everything you’ll experience after you’ve joined.

My Dashboard

Once you log into your Pathmatics account, you’ll be directed to your personal Dashboard. This is your homebase within Pathmatics. You can customize your Dashboard based on the top brands you follow on a day-to-day basis; this might be your own brand, competitors, affiliates, etc.

For example: Let’s say you choose to follow Apple. You’ll see a timeline on the right-hand side of your Dashboard documenting Apple’s latest impression spikes or newly introduced creatives. On the left, you’ll also see a graph charting Apple’s impressions for the last 30 days.

You can also alter your data based on device and format (see the screenshot below) or date range. These options will appear on every page you visit in Pathmatics.

My Tools

As you explore your Dashboard, you’ll notice a blue My Tools button located just to the right of the search bar (pictured above). This feature helps you to navigate the various features within Pathmatics. Click on My Tools and a drop-down menu will appear with the following list of options, each of which we’ve listed with a high-level description:

Top Advertisers

The top advertisers tool routes you to a list with data from thousands of brands spending the most on advertising, followed by a list of the highest spending industries, as well as top sites that advertisers buy impressions from.

You can filter the data by top indirect, direct advertisers, and specific devices and formats. For a more detailed report, click into specific advertiser profiles or categories to dive into budget allocation and creative campaigns.

Advertiser Categories

This tool gives you access to a complete list of top creatives, advertisers, sites and impressions for the industry you choose. Whether you want data from all categories or a specific industry (like automotive or marketing/advertising), Pathmatics will show you:

  • Top creatives
  • Top advertisers (direct or indirect)
  • Top sites
  • Spend share
  • Impression share

Advertiser Comparison

This feature allows you to compare advertisers side-by-side. Say you want to compare Hulu with Netflix. Go to the two search boxes, type in the two video on demand services and click the blue Compare Advertisers button. Pathmatics will generate a comparison and provide an overview of:

  • Spend volume
  • Impression volume
  • Historical comparisons of daily spend and impressions
  • Top sites running creatives for both video-streaming companies
  • Top site not running creatives for Hulu and Netflix
  • A purchase channel breakdown for spend share and impression share

Site Comparison

This tool is similar to advertiser comparison, but instead of comparing advertisers, you compare different websites. If you want to compare YouTube with ESPN, type both sites in the two search bars and Pathmatics will immediately give you data for:

  • Who the sites are selling impressions to
  • Top creatives on the two sites
  • Top advertisers not running creatives on the sites

The AdMocker feature allows you to simulate an ad campaign. Simply type in the URL of the website you’re planning to advertise on, upload your ad or use one from the Pathmatics database and you’re directed to the site, where you can place and preview your desired ad.

Request a New Entity

This feature gives you the ability to request data from advertisers, sites, services or ad networks that aren’t already in the Pathmatics system. A form will appear, asking you to specify whether you’re requesting an advertiser, site, ad network or service, as well as providing the name of your desired entity. If you have further questions or like to request multiple entities, you can email for more information.

Chrome Extension

The Pathmatics Chrome Extension gives you real-time advertising information for the top advertisers and publishers on the web. Once you add the extension to your browser, you’re able to see ad data whenever you visit a site.

Search Bar

The search bar located at the top of your Dashboard is exactly what it seems. It allows you to search for any site, advertiser, ad network or service. Let’s say you type “Samsung” into the search bar. A drop-down list will appear with suggestions including, Samsung and Samsung Promos. Clicking on a result will take you to a new page and provide you with a complete, interactive breakdown of total ad spend and impressions.

Added Bonus Features: Follow, Compare and Export

To the right of the brand drop down menu, you will see three blue buttons (pictured above); Follow, Compare and Export. These are pretty self explanatory. The Follow button allows you to add the selected company to your Dashboard. The Compare button allows you compare two advertisers, and the Export button allows you to export the data you want into a downloadable Excel file, infographic or Powerpoint.
